Jackson Heidesch, a Duke-bound senior at Dowling Catholic High in Iowa, became the 20th male athlete in U.S. prep history to achieve a sub-4 mile with his fourth-place finish in a state-record 3:59.08 at the HOKA Festival of Miles at St. Louis University High. Heidesch also joined Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City Stevens High in South Dakota, Rocky Hansen from Christ School in North Carolina and Tinoda Matsatsa of St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland as the only quartet to all run sub-4 in the race in U.S. prep history, doubling the mark of two athletes from last year's event. Heidesch elevated to the No. 10 outdoor mile competitor in U.S. prep history.
